The Impact on the Ozone Layer of a Potential Fleet of Civil Hypersonic Aircraft

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2020., 2020
Abstract The aeronautical community is currently researching technology that might lead to commercial hypersonic aircraft that would cruise at Mach 5–8 in the middle or upper stratosphere and would transfer passengers from London to New York or from Los Angeles to Tokyo in just a couple of hours.

Performance Comparison of Bow and Stern Rudder for High‐Speed Supercavitating Vehicles

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
To predict the hydrodynamic characteristics and supercavity shape of supercavitation flows, the numerical model including VOF, cavitation model, and turbulence models is presented and validated by a well‐established empirical correlation. The numerical method is then employed to simulate the high‐speed supercavitating vehicles with two different types ...

Estimating marine plastic pollution from COVID-19 face masks in coastal regions

open access: yesMarine Pollution Bulletin, 2021
Face masks are playing an essential role in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Face masks such as N95, and surgical masks, contain a considerable portion of non-recyclable plastic material.

Spatial Kinetics Model of Supercavitating Vehicles Reflecting Conic‐Like Oscillation

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
A spatial kinetics model for supercavitating vehicles including the coupled motion of pitch, yaw, and rolling was presented. Mathematical simulations were performed to investigate dynamic performance of supercavitating vehicles. An intrinsic conic‐like oscillation in the motion of supercavitating vehicles was discovered.

Marine microplastic debris: An emerging issue for food security, food safety and human health.

open access: yesMarine Pollution Bulletin, 2018
Recent studies have demonstrated the negative impacts of microplastics on wildlife. Therefore, the presence of microplastics in marine species for human consumption and the high intake of seafood (fish and shellfish) in some countries cause concern about
