The Fossil Invertebrate Holotype Specimens in the Collection of the University of Otago Department of Geology, Dunedin, New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 4, December 2026.
The 196 invertebrate holotypes held in the University of Otago Department of Geology are catalogued in detail. A short history of the Geology Museum, notable contributors to the invertebrate collection, highlights of the collection and notes on the information provided are followed by a list of the holotypes under eight phyla: Porifera, Cnidaria ...

A new species of Lonchidiidae (Hybodontiformes) from the Late Jurassic of Brazil (Aliança Formation, Jatobá Basin)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 11, Page 3091-3105, November 2026.
Abstract The Aliança Formation (Jatobá Basin) represents lacustrine deposits formed in oxygenated waters that hosted a diverse fauna, including Hybodontiform sharks. Within this group, the Family Lonchidiidae comprises 11 valid genera, with Parvodus previously reported in Brazilian deposits from the Brejo Santo Formation (Araripe Basin, Late Jurassic ...

Competition and soil conditions limit the growth of High Arctic non‐native plants

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 11, November 2026.
Non‐native vascular plant species in the High Arctic are currently restricted mainly to settlements and other anthropogenically disturbed areas. The reasons for this remain unclear, but climate or dispersal do not appear to be the main limiting factors. Instead, biotic interactions combined with soil conditions may play important roles.

Salt Tectonics and Inversion Style in the Southeastern Iberian Chain

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract The southeastern Iberian Chain is characterized by Mesozoic rift basins that were subsequently inverted during Alpine contraction. We integrate geological mapping, borehole data, balanced cross‐sections, structural restoration, and forward kinematic modeling to evaluate how rift architecture controlled Alpine deformation from basin to crustal ...

Geochemical Characteristics of Metasediment—Rich Lower Continental Crust: Insights From the Ivrea‐Verbano Zone (DIVE Drilling Project, ICDP Expedition 5071, Val d’Ossola, Italy)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract Whole‐rock geochemical data from two drill cores obtained through the ICDP (International Continental Scientific Drilling Program) funded Drilling the Ivrea‐Verbano Zone (IVZ) (DIVE) project: 5071_1_B (Ornavasso) and 5071_1_A (Megolo), provide new insights into the composition of the lower continental crust (LCC) in the IVZ. Borehole 5071_1_B (
