Regional distribution of field shale outcrop in China and its shale gas significance

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa, 2022
In China, shales are widely distributed, continuous in time and complex in space. In this paper, the distribution of shales in the North China, South China and Tarim Plates are systematically sorted out and discussed.

Study on Postfrac Softening Mechanism of Deep Marine Shale Reservoir in South Sichuan Basin

open access: yesGeofluids, 2023
Shale softening is an important factor affecting fracturing effect. Through the Brinell hardness measurement of deep marine shale reservoir in South Sichuan Basin, the softening mechanism of shale after fracturing is explored.

Geochemistry and Geochronology of Magmatic Rocks in Southwestern and Northeastern Cambodia: Implications for the Tectonic Evolution and Metallogenesis of the Loei Fold Belt

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The composition of intrusive rocks suggests that the magma was likely generated in a subduction‐related setting. The arc crustal thickness in the Phnom Sro Ngam and Halo Prospects was probably < 40 km during emplacement. Zircon U–Pb age range indicates a correlation with Loei Fold Belt magmatic activity.

Kinetic study of marine and lacustrine shale grains using Rock-Eval pyrolysis: Implications to hydrocarbon generation, retention and expulsion

open access: yes, 2018
The kinetic parameters of marine and lacustrine shale grains (4 mm) were retrieved by using Rock-Eval pyrolysis in comparison with finely ground powder (<0.178 mm) and kerogen of same samples.

Influence of water on shale pore heterogeneity and the implications for shale gas-bearing property-A case study of marine Longmaxi Formation shale in northern Guizhou

open access: yes, 2021
Shale pore heterogeneity (as described by the fractal dimension) may influence the shale gas-bearing property (GBP). Previous studies on the fractal dimension and its influence on shale GBP were mainly focused on the dry shale samples.

Prediction of marine shale gas production in South China based on drilling workload analysis

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2016
The marine shale gas resource in South China is abundant, but the existing conventional methods cannot meet the needs of predicting the future production development of shale gas.

An Improved Method to Accurately Estimate TOC of Shale Reservoirs and Coal-Measures

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Total organic carbon content is the important parameter in determining the quality of hydrocarbon source rocks. To accurately evaluate the TOC parameters of shale reservoirs and coal-measure shale reservoirs, the method to improve the accuracy of a ...

Characteristics of Gravity Flow Deposits in the Benin Basin (Benin) and Implications for Oil and Gas Exploration

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the underexplored Benin Basin features a narrow shelf and steep slope, which promoted the development of multi‐phase, stacked channel‐lobe complexes. These gravity flow deposits, further enhanced by bottom current reworking, reveal a significant undiscovered Upper Cretaceous stratigraphic play with considerable petroleum ...

Evaluation of residual oil content, composition, and evolution of marine shale from the Middle Ordovician Pingliang Formation, Erdos Basin, China

open access: yes, 2016
A grain-based microscale sealed vessel pyrolysis method to a whole rock sample from Pingliang (PL) marine shale was used to investigate the residual oil contents, fractional compositions and evolutions at different temperatures and maturities.

Bryozoan‐Rich Carbonate Units of the Erfoud Area (SE Morocco) Record Latest Katian to Early Hirnantian Interglacial Intervals

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
In this study, we re‐examine the depositional architecture of the Erfoud limestone in Morocco. Introducing new biostratigraphic constraints from chitinozoan assemblages, we show that Katian to Hirnantian bryozoan‐pelmatozoan meadows reflect flooding events linked to a series of interglacial transgressions known to have occurred immediately prior to the
