ABSTRACT There is growing interest in the co‐culture of macroalgae and filter‐feeding bivalves due to anticipated trophic benefits that may enhance the productivity of both organisms. Detritus from cultured macroalgae has the potential to supplement bivalve diets, yet few studies have directly examined this relationship in co‐culture systems.

Abstract The pattern and cause of upper‐water temperature (UWT) variations on millennial timescales in the Southern Ocean (SO) and the mechanism of their interaction with high‐latitude Northern Hemisphere climate remain unclear. Here, we reconstructed millennial‐scale subsurface temperature (subST) records from the Weddell Sea during the Last Glacial ...

ABSTRACT In Namibia, the aquaculture sector faces significant challenges, mainly due to the high cost of imported commercial feed, which limits small‐scale farmers' productivity and food security. To address this, locally formulated feeds must be evaluated as sustainable alternatives.

This study describes a new hexamerous epizoic brittle star species, Gymnolophus sexradia sp. nov., from the South China Sea, which lives on crinoid hosts and exhibits a six‐armed body plan possibly indicating fissiparity. Its vertebral and arm plate structures enhance horizontal flexibility for grasping the host, and phylogenetic analysis based on ...

There is debate over whether isolated populations of “pygmy” Australian freshwater crocodiles are a unique species. This is a conservation concern as these populations face unique challenges. We found some population differences which support these populations as being ecologically unique and valuable for targeted conservation.

Indigenous Knowledge systems contain deep, place‐based ecological insights developed over generations but remain underrepresented in biodiversity assessments and conservation planning. This study explores yulendji Bunwurrung (Bunurong knowledge) through five Stories shared by a Bunurong Elder, using thematic analysis and comparison with contemporary ...

On the Tropical Nature of an Intense Mediterranean Cyclone in the Ocean‐Atmosphere System
Abstract The Mediterranean basin hosts a large number of cyclones every year. Among them, some rare cases named medicanes present similarities with tropical cyclones but their dynamical characteristics are debated. The ocean‐atmosphere dynamics of Medicane Ianos (2020) are studied here through km‐scale fully coupled ocean‐wave‐atmosphere simulations ...

Abstract Extreme warm events in the ocean, known as marine heatwaves (MHWs), can have severe and even irreversible impacts on marine ecosystems, underscoring the imperative need to quantify their anthropogenic changes based on observations. In situ temperature profiles over the past three decades reveal an outsized global increase (over 10% per decade)

Neural‐BGC: An Observation‐Driven Emulator for Hybrid Physical‐Biogeochemical Modeling
Abstract Coupled ocean‐biogeochemical models are essential for understanding marine ecosystems, yet they often suffer from persistent biases due to poorly constrained empirical parameters. To address this limitation, we introduce Neural‐BGC, an observation‐driven neural network emulator for hybrid physical‐biogeochemical modeling. Neural‐BGC is trained
