Impacts of Introducing Automation in Mining Operations: Insights From Worker Perceptions

Safety Science and Technology, EarlyView.
This study shows that trust is the strongest predictor of mining workers' situation awareness when using automated systems. Communication and coordination also improve situation awareness through trust, highlighting the need for human‐centered system design and training that support calibrated trust and effective teamwork in safety‐critical operations.
