Activism online: Exploring how crises are communicated visually in activism campaigns
Abstract During the past years, activist movements have increasingly turned to social media to raise awareness and critically discuss current development and future scenarios. As a contribution to the discussion of new social movements and activism in the digital age, this study aims to explore and critically discuss how environmental risks and crisis ...

THE TIME OF POLITICS, THE POLITICS OF TIME, AND POLITICIZED TIME: AN INTRODUCTION TO CHRONOPOLITICS
ABSTRACT Time is so deeply interwoven with all aspects of politics that its centrality to the political is frequently overlooked. For one, politics has its own times and rhythms. Secondly, time can be an object and an instrument of politics. Thirdly, temporal attributes are used not only to differentiate basic political principles but also to ...

New Chemical Transformations Involving SO2F2‐Mediated Alcohol Activation
A long‐standing industrial collaboration in our research group drove our work on the sulfuryl fluoride‐mediated transformations. Recent work on metal‐catalyzed transformations of aryl fluorosulfonates and nucleophilic substitution reactions on (polyfluoro)alkyl alcohols are discussed in this personal account.

Encountering Spiking Neural Networks
Abstract Over the past two decades, the term “intelligent media” has surfaced to describe media that take on problematics of cognition, communication, and sensory perception loosely modeled after human intelligence. Taking the form of hardware‐software assemblages, these novel media demonstrate forms of autonomy that challenge human control and herald ...

Traffic Lights for Catalysis: Stimuli‐Responsive Molecular and Extended Catalytic Systems
Just as flowers blooming in response to the sun attract bees to continue their natural life cycle, molecules which respond to external stimuli can be used to control catalytic cycles. Development of stimuli‐responsive molecular and extended catalytic platforms is a pathway for precise tuning of reaction yield, rate, or enantioselectivity that could ...

Asymmetric Organocatalyzed Intermolecular Functionalization of Cyclohexanone‐Derived Dienones
Asymmetric organocatalysis plays a key role in organic synthesis and this review describes the use of this tool for the functionalization of cyclohexanone‐derived dienones. By using diverse organocatalysts, enantioenriched functionalized cyclohexanone derivatives were obtained through covalent and non‐covalent asymmetric organocatalysis.

Spelling correctness as a witness of changing documentary culture in Tuscia (eighth–ninth centuries)
This paper discusses the evolution of documentary culture in early medieval Tuscia by quantitatively examining the Latin spelling of charter scribes in relation to the following factors: time, the distinction between the formulaic and non‐formulaic parts of the document, the scribe’s domicile, the scribe’s professional status, and the document type ...
