Convectively Forced Diurnal Gravity Waves in the Maritime Continent
Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 2019Abstract Long-lived, zonally propagating diurnal rainfall disturbances are a highly pronounced and common feature in the Maritime Continent (MC). A recent study argues that these disturbances can be explained as diurnally phase-locked gravity waves.

Modelling the generation of gravity waves by a maritime continent thunderstorm
Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 2001AbstractObserved wind and temperature profiles are used to initialize a model calculation of a maritime continent thunderstorm, and the numerical solution is used to explore the effect of tropospheric shear on the gravity‐wave generation. The resultant convective system is qualitatively similar to that observed.

The Role of Equatorial Waves in Triggering Precipitation Extremes in the Maritime Continent
Monthly Weather ReviewAbstract This review offers a comprehensive analysis of convectively coupled equatorial waves (CCEWs) and their pivotal role in driving precipitation extremes across the Maritime Continent. It examines the current understanding of CCEWs, evaluates the performance of numerical models and forecasting techniques in predicting these ...

The Dynamics of Cold Surges over the Maritime Continent
Cold surges are large-scale monsoon weather systems that bring strong north-easterly winds, colder air, and sometimes very heavy rainfall and flooding over the Maritime Continent region between November and March of each year (i.e., the boreal winter). In some cases, cold surges are accompanied by dry and windy conditions.openaire +1 more source
The influence of riverine freshwater in the indonesian maritime continent
