Use of Clotrimazole in Finfish Aquaculture: Mechanistic Insights, Limitations, and Future Directions for Antifungal Therapy

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This review critically evaluates clotrimazole as a potential antifungal for finfish aquaculture, highlighting strong mechanistic and in vitro efficacy against aquatic mycoses alongside major gaps in in vivo evidence, toxicokinetics, residue safety, and environmental risk, outlining priorities for responsible therapeutic development and regulatory ...

The sRNA vvrr1 Modulates the VarS/VarA‐Csr System via LeuO to Regulate Biofilm Formation and Virulence in Vibrio alginolyticus

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
vvrr1, a small RNA, post‐transcriptionally represses the transcriptional regulator LeuO, which directly inhibits the VarS/VarA two‐component system. This triggers a Csr cascade that relieves LuxO repression, ultimately modulating exopolysaccharide production to control biofilm formation and virulence in Vibrio alginolyticus.

Evidence for adaptive explanations of semelparity in animals

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Semelparity, the reproductive strategy of reproducing once, is widespread but uncommon in animals. Classes of models to explain the evolution of semelparity are based either on age structure and mortality schedules – demographic models in which high post‐reproductive mortality risk favours high reproductive effort and semelparity results from ...

Search and Rescue Applications: On the Need to Improve Ocean Observing Data Systems in Offshore or Remote Locations

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Search and rescue (SAR) in remote maritime locations is a difficult mission. One of the limitations in these isolated regions is the low density of available oceanographic data for model validation.

Remote Sensing Application in the Maritime Search and Rescue

open access: yes, 2012
Maritime search and rescue (MSRIn the maritime publications, the abbreviation for search and rescue is also SAR. Here we use MSR to distinguish it from the abbreviation for Synthetic Aperture Radar.) became an enormous task with the vast growth of marine transportation and other marine activities.

Empowering Circular Startups: Unveiling the Blueprint for Circular Business Models

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circular startups are increasingly recognized as key drivers in the transition toward a circular economy. Yet the business models (BMs) through which these startups operationalize circularity remain poorly understood, limiting the ability of entrepreneurial ecosystem actors to offer effective support.

A Universal and Actionable Measure of Corporate Sustainability for Strategic Decision Making

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Managers require a universal, comparable, and decision‐useful measure of corporate sustainability that can reliably inform business strategy, yet such a tool remains absent in the literature and current practice. This paper introduces a comprehensive and operational metric—grounded in Goertz's Basic Framework for developing social science ...
