Vision and Foraging in Structurally Complex Habitats: Common Moorhens (Gallinula chloropus) See the Way Ahead

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study examines how common moorhens balance foraging and predator detection through their visual field configuration. It finds they have a narrow but vertically elongated binocular field for precise feeding, alongside near‐panoramic monocular vision for wide environmental awareness.

Fine‐Scale Landscape Genomics Show Asymmetric Patterns of Gene Flow for the Invasive Mosquito Aedes albopictus

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Invasive Ae. albopictus populations demonstrate substantial gene flow within local metropolitan areas, with urban city centers serving as genetic sinks and surrounding suburban and rural regions serving as sources. We show how heterogeneous landscapes shape mosquito population connectivity and migration at fine spatial scales, which is critical for ...

Maritime Surveillance With Undersampled SAR

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2017
According to the minimum antenna area constraint, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems require a low-pulse repetition frequency (PRF) to image the wide swaths in ocean surface monitoring scenarios. However, the low PRF that is lower than the Doppler bandwidth will cause azimuth ambiguities.
