A Marked Point Process Framework for Extracellular Electrical Potentials

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2017
Neuromodulations are an important component of extracellular electrical potentials (EEP), such as the Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electrocorticogram (ECoG) and Local Field Potentials (LFP).

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Rates of convergence for extremes of geometric random variables and marked point processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We use the Stein-Chen method to study the extremal behaviour of univariate and bivariate geometric laws. We obtain a rate for the convergence, to the Gumbel distribution, of the law of the maximum of i.i.d.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Partial characteristics for marked spatial point processes

open access: yes, 2019
This paper introduces a new class of partial summary characteristics for twotypes of marked planar point processes. We consider purely qualitatively marked spatial point processes and multitype spatial point processes with quantitativemarks.

“Só é vencido quem deixa de lutar”: Protesto e Estado democrático em Portugal

open access: yesRevista Crítica de Ciências Sociais, 2005
In this article, the author seeks to understand how citizenship is constructed on the basis of the study of a local space strongly marked by collective mobilization.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Resampling inhomogeneous marked point processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate methods for resampling inhomogeneous marked point processes, focusing on Poisson point processes. In Chapter 1 we introduce the problem and provide some background information.
