Groundwater recharge through internally drained basins in a semiarid climate, Western Australia

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2023
Study region: The study site, the Mount Bruce Flats, is located in the Pilbara, a semiarid region of northern Western Australia. Study focus: Semiarid climates are characterised by an extreme water deficit, with evaporation exceeding precipitation ...

Evaluating Variable Length Markov Chain Models for Analysis of User Web Navigation Sessions

open access: yes, 2006
Markov models have been widely used to represent and analyse user web navigation data. In previous work we have proposed a method to dynamically extend the order of a Markov chain model and a complimentary method for assessing the predictive power of ...

Rigidity of hyperbolic sets on surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Given a hyperbolic invariant set of a diffeomorphism on a surface, it is proved that, if the holonomies are sufficiently smooth, then the diffeomorphism on the hyperbolic invariant set is rigid in the sense that it is C1+ conjugate to a hyperbolic affine

Forecasting monthly wind speed for Udaipur region

open access: yesJournal of Agrometeorology, 2008
Stochastic modelling for mean monthly wind speed of Udaipur (Rajasthan) was done using 26 years (1978–2003) data. The performed statistical tests indicated that the series of the monthly wind speed data is trend free.

Identifying Physical Interactions in Contact‐Based Robot Manipulation for Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

Lipid‐Facilitated Opening of the ADAM10 Sheddase Revealed by Enhanced Sampling Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphatidylserine acts as a lipid trigger to enhance activation of the sheddase ADAM10. By integrating fluorescence spectroscopy assays with enhanced sampling molecular dynamics simulations, this study shows that phosphatidylserine promotes ADAM10 catalytic activity along with expansion of its extracellular domains, enhancing accessibility to scaffold

Contrast-Based 3D/2D Registration of the Left Atrium: Fast versus Consistent

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Imaging, 2016
For augmented fluoroscopy during cardiac ablation, a preoperatively acquired 3D model of a patient’s left atrium (LA) can be registered to X-ray images recorded during a contrast agent (CA) injection.

Análise espacial e de vizinhança no melhoramento genético de plantas Neighborhood and spatial analysis in plant breeding
