The Inspection of a Markov Process

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1958
SUMMARY The output of a Markov process producing good and bad items in sequence is inspected for the bad items. A measure is proposed of the work involved, and the estimation required for this measurement is discussed.

Redistributive land reforms, agricultural productivity, and structural change: New cross‐national evidence

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Large‐scale land reforms constitute a substantial redistribution of wealth and reallocation of agricultural land, which is a major form of asset and production input in developing countries. While land redistribution (from the rich to the poor) remains a highly controversial issue, extensive evidence on its effect is limited.

Efficient Estimation of Copula-based Semiparametric Markov Models [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper considers efficient estimation of copula-based semiparametric strictly stationary Markov models. These models are characterized by nonparametric invariant (one-dimensional marginal) distributions and parametric bivariate copula functions ...

Cost Utility Analysis of Fluticasone Exhalation Delivery System Versus Budesonide Nasal Irrigation for Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is managed after sinus surgery with topical corticosteroids. Given limited distribution of nasal steroid sprays, patients have the option of either steroid nasal irrigation (SNI) or exhalation delivery system with fluticasone (EDS‐FLU).

Lipocalin‐2 activates hepatic stellate cells and promotes nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in high‐fat diet–fed Ob/Ob mice

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Graphical summary of obesity‐induced NASH progression by LCN2 targeted to HSC activation. Abstract Background and Aims In obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, leptin promotes insulin resistance and contributes to the progression of NASH via activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

Markov or not Markov - this should be a question [PDF]

open access: yes
Although it is well known that Markov process theory, frequently applied in the literature on income convergence, imposes some very restrictive assumptions upon the data generating process, these assumptions have generally been taken for granted so far ...

Bounded parameter Markov decision processes with average reward criterion

open access: yes, 2007
. Bounded parameter Markov Decision Processes (BMDPs) address the issue of dealing with uncertainty in the parameters of a Markov Decision Process (MDP).

tanggle: An R package for the visualization of phylogenetic networks

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Phylogenetic trees depict evolutionary relationships among taxa. However, they are strictly bifurcating structures that do not take into account several types of evolutionary events such as horizontal gene transfer, hybridization, or introgression. Although the development of new methods in phylogenetic networks has recently increased,

Consistent Markov Edge Processes and Random Graphs

open access: yesMathematics
We discuss Markov edge processes {Ye;e∈E} defined on edges of a directed acyclic graph (V,E) with the consistency property PE′(Ye;e∈E′)=PE(Ye;e∈E′) for a large class of subgraphs (V′,E′) of (V,E) obtained through a mesh dismantling algorithm.

Detecting introgression from phylogenetic invariant site patterns using machine learning

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Detecting historical introgression among populations or species from genomic data is a common goal in evolutionary genetics. Most current methods fall into two major categories: network inference and admixture inference. Network inference (e.g., SNaQ) is computationally challenging and typically requires first reducing large genomic ...
