Effect of Heat Treatment Parameters on Microstructure, Hardness, and Corrosion Resistance of Martensitic Stainless Steel X30Cr13 (AISI 420B)

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The hardness and corrosion resistance of the martensitic stainless steel X30Cr13 depend directly on the applied heat treatment. This article describes and discusses the relationships between alloy composition, thermodynamic phase stabilities, heat treatment parameters, resulting microstructures, and achievable corrosion resistance. To investigate these

Phase-field simulation of lenticular martensite and inheritance of the accommodation dislocations

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
A phase-field simulation is performed to study the substructure evolution of lenticular martensite in TRIP steels. The evolution of martensitic phase variants and dislocations is calculated by a coupled phase-field micro-elasticity model. The simulations

Experimental and Comparative Study of the Corrosion Behavior of Lean Duplex Stainless Steel in Seawater

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The localized corrosion behavior of lean duplex stainless steel EN 1.4062 is systematically compared with austenitic and higher‐alloyed duplex grades in natural seawater. A clear resistance ranking is established, highlighting EN 1.4062 as a cost‐effective alternative for limited marine exposure.

Influence of Strain Rate on the Strain Hardening Behavior of a Lean Duplex Stainless Steel

open access: yesMetalMat, EarlyView.
The aim of this study was to examine how strain rate influences the compressive strain‐hardening behavior of a lean duplex stainless steel LDX 2101. Microstructural analysis using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) revealed a strain‐induced austenite‐to‐martensite transformation.

Influence of Doping Tb on the Mechanical Properties and Martensitic Transformation of Ni-Mn-Sn Magnetic Shape Memory Alloys

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
Brittleness and low working temperature are two key factors that restrict the application of Ni-Mn-Sn alloys. Element doping is an effective means to improve performance of materials.

Application of Machine Learning in Heat Treatment Process Design of Carburized Steel

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
To accelerate heat treatment design, we constructed a closed‐loop machine learning strategy involving multi‐source datasets and feature screening. The optimized model accurately predicts hardness and friction coefficients, successfully guiding the process optimization for two typical carburized steels with high experimental consistency.
