Minimization of Tikhonov Functionals in Banach Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2008
Tikhonov functionals are known to be well suited for obtaining regularized solutions of linear operator equations. We analyze two iterative methods for finding the minimizer of norm-based Tikhonov functionals in Banach spaces. One is the steepest descent

So kann Science Outreach gelingen! – Transferprozess zwischen universitärer Forschung und Schulen This is how Science Outreach Can Succeed! – Transfer Process between University and Schools

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 97, Issue 4, Page 324-333, April 2025.

Influence of shear cutting parameters on the edge properties and the fatigue behavior of non‐oriented electrical steel sheets

open access: yesMaterialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, Volume 56, Issue 4, Page 537-548, April 2025.
The influence of the cutting clearance and tool wear state on the fatigue properties is investigated for non‐oriented electrical steel sheets. Compared to polished edges, a significant deterioration of the fatigue strength is observed due to shear cutting.

Investigation of the Influence of Fiber Stretching on N2 ‐Pretreated PAN‐Fibers and Development of a Shortened Stabilization Process Meeting the Requirements of the Carbon Fiber Industry

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 7, Page 1592-1605, 1 April 2025.
ABSTRACT Carbon fibers (CF) are characterized by their excellent mechanical properties and low specific weight. However, due to the high production costs of CF, the application areas of this material are highly limited. A more cost‐effective production of CF through the use of N2‐pretreatment can further increase the spread in mass markets.

Seismic Imaging of the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland: Crustal‐Scale Context of Geothermal Areas and Ongoing Volcano‐Tectonic Unrest

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Volcanic and seismic unrest on the Reykjanes Peninsula in SW Iceland that started in late 2019 after ∼800 years of quiescence has drawn wide interest to this on‐land extension of the Mid‐Atlantic spreading ridge. Here, we use seismic data collected across the larger Peninsula region, covering six volcanic systems and associated high ...

On the Reduction of Ammonia from the Waste of Alpine Houses

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2005
An evaluation of the effectiveness of the cation-exchange resin Amberlite IR-120 (AMIR 120) for removing ammonia from aqueous solutions and waste was made. Two types of waste were obtained from houses located in the Alps and used in this work.

Cauchy’s stress theorem and its influence on the first elasticity tensor

open access: yesExamples and Counterexamples
The well-known Clausius–Planck inequality for solids is derived from the second law of thermodynamics and provides the important relation between stress and strain tensors according to the Coleman–Noll procedure.
