The violence of the masculine ideal: A case for nomadic masculinities
HTS Teologiese Studies / Theological Studies, 2018 In this article, I argue that a different kind of discourse on Christian masculinities in post-apartheid South Africa is possible despite the prevalence of largely idealised and politically conservative ideologies of masculinities promoted primarily through the public and private performance of violent masculinities.

FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.FEM1B facilitates TRAIL‐induced apoptosis through distinct mechanisms in T lymphocytes and monocytes. In T lymphocytes, FEM1B engages with TRAF2, leading to a reduction in TRAF2 expression, which subsequently lessens TRAF2's inhibitory influence on caspase‐8.

This study demonstrates that occludin‐targeting short peptides disrupt junction integrity, inducing immune cell infiltration, tumor necrosis factor‐α/interleukin‐6 secretion and mitochondrial dysfunction, ultimately triggering apoptosis.
