Strengthening masonry infill walls with reinforced plaster
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2010One technique for strengthening masonry infill walls against seismic lateral forces permitted by the Turkish Seismic Code is to add a plaster layer with mesh reinforcement to one face of the wall. The study described in this paper was performed to test and analyse the effectiveness of this technique for lateral loads.

Seismic evaluation of reinforced concrete structures infilled with masonry infill walls
Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2019The current research work aims to investigate the seismic performance of the reinforced concrete structures fully, as well as, partially infilled with masonry infill (MI) walls. For that, a numerical study of three groups of two-dimensional framed structure has been conducted under dynamic time–history analysis. The three building groups are classified

Abstract Sassanid era arches are among the oldest arches in Persian architecture. In this study, an infilled masonry wall and a similar Sassanid era arched masonry wall, both with clay bricks (square bricks of 195 mm long) and clay and gypsum mortar, are compared and their seismic behaviors are tested under cyclic loading (as per protocol).

Importance of masonry infill walls for framed buildings
2017 International Conference on ENERGY and ENVIRONMENT (CIEM), 2017The paper presents a study about the effect of masonry infill walls on the behavior of framed buildings, in seismic areas. The study was done for a building that will be built in Bucharest, Romania. In this case, the building will have 6 stories. The bays are narrow, because of the architecture requirements. The structure is composed of concrete frames.

Interval finite element analysis of masonry-infilled walls
Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2012This paper strongly addresses to the problem of the mechanical systems in which parameters are uncertain and bounded. Interval calculation is used to find sharp bounds of the structural parameters for infilled frame system modeled with finite element method.

Studies on Seismic Measures to Improve Masonry Infilled Wall
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014brittle nature of masonry infilled wall and the wrong connection with the main structure , resulted in the destruction phenomenon in the earthquake . Based on the destruction phenomenon ,this paper analysis the Earthquake damage of masonry infilled wall , according to code for seismic design of buildings (GB50011—2001) and code for seismic design of ...

Definition of diagonal Poisson’s ratio and elastic modulus for infill masonry walls
Materials and Structures, 2013The prediction of the response of infilled frames through the simplified approach of substituting the infill with an equivalent pin-jointed strut is treated. In this framework the results of an experimental study for the mechanical characterization of different types of masonry infills having the aim of estimating strength, Young modulus and Poisson’s ...

Out-of-plane behaviour of infill masonry walls
2007Recently, a new code for the seismic design of structures has been adopted in Italy (OPCM 3431; 2005). This code provides new provisions for the safety evaluation of non structural elements, among which the masonry infill walls for framed structures.

Out-of-plane response of infill masonry walls
2014The observation of damage after earthquakes has highlighted that out-of-plane failures of masonry infill walls are somewhat frequent. In many cases, the structure withstands the ground shaking with minor damage, whereas infills collapse in-plane or out-of-plane.
