Research on the Laws of Destructive Patterns and Control Measures of Overlying Rock in High‐Efficiency Large‐Scale Mining Faces

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
With the advancement of coal mining technology driving the development of working faces toward increased mining heights and extended lengths, the enlargement of face dimensions has led to expanded overlying strata failure zones and intensified ground pressure manifestations. Consequently, traditional methods for determining hydraulic support resistance

Seismic Performance of a Three-Story Reinforced Concrete Building with Masonry Infill Walls and Friction Base Support

open access: yesCivil Engineering Dimension, 2021
The stiffness of masonry infill walls is commonly neglected in design practice of Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures. In fact, the stiffness of masonry infill wall may significantly influence seismic performance and dynamic behavior of RC buildings. In

Damage-imperfection indicators for the assessment of multi-leaf masonry walls under different conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The complexity of multi-leaf masonry walls suggests further researches on the dy- namic behaviour mainly characterized by incoherent response between the different layers.

Finalisation of the European Approach to Assess the Fire Performance of Facades—Brief Information on the Outcome of the Project

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research was conducted within the framework of project SI2.825082, funded by the European Commission—DG GROW. The project's objective was to finalise a European approach for assessing the fire performance of façades under medium and large fire exposure conditions.

Masonry wall assembly

open access: yes, 2016
Various implementations are directed to a single face building block and masonry wall assembly and methods. Each building block includes a single face shell, first and second webs extending from an interior surface of the face shell, and a pier that has a proximal surface disposed between distal ends of the webs and a distal surface that is opposite ...

Investigating the Behaviour of Plaster Mortared Rural Masonry Walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Turkey is located on the Alpine-Himalayan earthquake zone. %92 of its land is faced with earthquake hazard. Even in low intensity earthquakes, major damages have been observed in masonry structures.

Seismic behaviour of traditional timber frame walls: experimental results on unreinforced walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Timber frame buildings are well known as an efficient seismic resistant structure and they are used worldwide. Moreover, they have been specifically adopted in codes and regulations during the XVIII and XIX centuries in the Mediterranean area.

CFD Analysis of Dual‐Layer PCM Roofs for Thermal Mitigation in Residential Buildings

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a computational fluid dynamics analysis of dual‐layer phase change material (PCM) roofs for passive cooling in residential buildings under the hot and humid climate of Bangladesh. A three‐dimensional transient model was developed in ANSYS Fluent using the enthalpy–porosity approach to simulate coupled heat conduction ...

In-Plane Seismic Response of Unreinforced and Jacketed Masonry Walls

open access: yesBuildings, 2021
Low-rise residential and public masonry structures constitute a large portion of the building patrimony, yet they were erected during the massive reconstruction of Southeast Europe after World War II before any design rules existed in the engineering ...

Unravelling indoor temperature response to summer heat through long‐term crowdsourced observations in Dutch residences

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study analysed and modelled summertime indoor temperature dynamics in the Netherlands using a unique long‐term crowdsourced dataset from seven residences (spanning 2–27 years). Indoor temperatures were found to rise and cool more slowly than outdoors (mean 260 minute lag), with heatwave signals persisting about five days.
