Investigation of Thermo‐Chemical Processes in Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks With and Without MgO‐C Recyclate at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates thermo‐chemical processes during high‐temperature testing of two commercial MgO‐C brick grades, one containing 47.5 wt.% MgO‐C recyclate. Using ETV, DTA/TG‐MS, XRD, and SEM/EDS/EBSD, mechanisms such as carbothermal reduction of magnesia, impurity incorporation into the secondary MgO surface layer, and calcium‐rich phase ...

Experimental two-phase heat transfer study of R245fa in horizontal mini-channels at high saturation temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Heat transfer measurements for R254fa were conducted. The heat transfer coefficient was determined for a smooth stainless steel tube with an inner tube diameter of 3 mm.

Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

low Boiling Heat Transfer Characteristics of R290 in 5mm Small-diameter Tubes

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2019
The characteristics of heat transfer for R290 flow boiling in 5 mm small diameter tubes were investigated experimentally with a focus on the effects of heat flux, mass flow rate, and saturation temperature on the surface coefficient of boiling heat ...

Transition from a relativistic constituent-quark model to the quantum-chromodynamical asymptotics: a quantitative description of the pion electromagnetic form factor at intermediate values of the momentum transfer

open access: yes, 2013
We adopt a non-perturbative relativistic constituent-quark model for the pi-meson electromagnetic form factor, which have successfully predicted experimental results, and supplement it with the effective momentum-dependent quark mass to study ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

New Experimental Correlations for the Mass Transfer of a High-efficiency Packed-type Dehumidifier

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2017
The packing is a crucial part of a liquid-desiccant dehumidifier, and its mass-transfer characteristics have a great impact on the overall performance of liquid-desiccant-based air-conditioning systems.
