Mass Transfer Area Coefficients in Children

Peritoneal Dialysis International: Journal of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, 1994
Objective Measurement of mass transfer area coefficients (MTAC) in children of different sizes to determine if solute transport varies with age and to compare with published adult values. Design Mass transfer area coefficients ...

Determination of mass-transfer coefficients

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1972
The convectionless partition of two organic mixtures is examined and the Soret coefficients as well as the concentrative diffusivity are determined. The values obtained for these coefficients and the trends of their variation confirm the appropriateness of purifying a substance by means of thermal diffusion.

Liquid‐Phase mass transfer coefficients in bioreactors

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1992
AbstractLiquid‐phase mass transfer coefficient in bioreactors have been examined. A theoretical model based on the surface renewal concept has been devloped. The predicted liquid‐phase mass transfer coefficients are compared with the experimental data for a mycelial fermentation broth (Chaetomium cellulolyticum) and model media (carboxymethyl cellulose)

Measurement of local mass transfer coefficient in biofilms

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1995
AbstractLocal mass transfer rates for an electrochemically formed microsink in an aerobic biofilm was measured by a mobile microelectrode using limiting current technique. Mass transfer coefficients varied both horizontally and vertically in the biofilm.

Heat and mass transfer coefficients of viscous spheres

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2001
Abstract The problem of mass/heat transfer from a viscous droplet is solved by using a finite-difference scheme, and a dual kind of computational grid. The steady-state Navier–Stokes and energy equations for the flow fields inside and outside a viscous sphere in a fluid of different properties are fully solved numerically for Reynolds numbers ( Re ...

Mass Transfer Coefficient: Comparison between Methods

Peritoneal Dialysis International: Journal of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, 1993
The mass transfer area coefficient (MTC) is the best parameter for solute transport evaluation in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients. We compared three simplified MTC methods (calculated according Garred, Krediet, or Lindholm) and the peritoneal equilibration test (PET) (Twardowskl) to complex MTC (MTCX ...

Mass transfer characteristics and overall mass transfer coefficient in the ozone contactor

Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2005
The overall mass transfer coefficient kLa,F in the flow characteristics was determined by the measurement of the diffusivity of ozone, density of aqueous solution, and viscosity. However, the measured values kLa,F in the range of 0.0096–0.0622 min-1 show large changes in hydraulic retention time, and the dissolved ...

Mass Transfer Coefficient

2016
Blood oxygenation or detoxification is a typical example of the processe that artificial organs are required to carry out when replacing the functions of a failing natural organ. All of these processes are based on interphase mass transfer and the rate at which they occur directly affects the performance of the supporting devices.
