The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Growth and yield response of maize (Zea mays var. saccharata) to different nitrogen fertilization sources and rates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture
Nitrogen is an essential plant nutrient and a major yield-determining factor, required for normal vegetative growth and grain development of maize. Applying nitrogen requires appropriate fertilization management to achieve efficient nutrient utilization.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Effect of NOx level on secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from the photooxidation of terpenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from the photooxidation of one monoterpene (α-pinene) and two sesquiterpenes (longifolene and aromadendrene) is investigated in the Caltech environmental chambers.

Subthreshold K+ production in deuteron and alpha induced nuclear reactions

open access: yes, 1997
Double differential cross sections have been measured for pi+ and K+ emitted around midraidity in d+A and He+A collisions at a beam kinetic energy of 1.15 GeV/nucleon.

The Diagnostic Yield of Immediate Postcryoablation Biopsies of Small Renal Masses

open access: yesJournal of Endourology, 2009
To evaluate the diagnostic feasibility and reproducibility of immediate postcryoablation biopsies of small renal masses.Between December 2006 and July 2007, 21 intraoperative pre- and postcryoablation (18-gauge core) biopsies of renal masses were obtained. Evaluation of the biopsies by the institutional uropathologist was followed by a blind assessment

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Yield of green mass, grain and other yield components of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) in dependence of agroecological conditions and seed maturity

open access: yesMljekarstvo, 2010
The goal of the research was to determine the influence of two locations (Osijek and Vinkovci) and seed age on field germination, vegetative mass and dry matter of vegetative mass yields, grain yield, 1000 grain weight and grain crude protein yield of ...

A Fluid Dynamics Calculation of Sputtering from a Cylindrical Thermal Spike

open access: yes, 2001
The sputtering yield, Y, from a cylindrical thermal spike is calculated using a two dimensional fluid dynamics model which includes the transport of energy, momentum and mass.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
