Variation of neutron yield with fragment mass in fission

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1968
A semiempirical method is developed for constructing neutron-yield curves based on Terrell's "universal" curve and the postulate of Glendenin (1949). The curves so constructed, when combined with the prompt yields, will reproduce the fine structure in the cumulative yields.

Mass yields in the fast neutron fission of 233U

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1965
The cumulative yields of sixteen mass chains in the fission of 233U by fission-spectrum neutrons were determined by radiochemical methods. The mass chains were mostly in the rare earth region of the yield curve. In general, the last radioactive member of the mass chain was isolated and its activity measured relative to the activity of 99Mo.

Circular Dichroism in Ion Yields of Femtosecond‐Laser Mass Spectrometry

ChemPhysChem, 2009
AbstractTelling the difference quickly: Femtosecond laser pulses are not only suitable to distinguish structural isomers. They also provide access to the distinction of enantiomers by combination of circular dichroism and mass spectrometry (see picture).magnified ...

Mass Spectrometer Ion Source with High Yield

Journal of Applied Physics, 1970
An electron impact ion source suitable for use with a quadrupole mass filter is described. Ion formation occurs throughout a relatively large volume since no magnetic field collimation of the ionization electron stream is used. A sensitivity of 8 Torr−1 was obtained for an ion energy of 50 eV rising to a constant sensitivity of 12 Torr−1 for ion ...

Mass Dependence of the Sputtering Yield –Boundary Effect

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1978
A simple model is used to study the dependence of the sputtering yield on the incident atomic number ( Z 1 ). Scatterings between incident and target atoms are classified into two types, that is, large and small angle scatterings. Large angle scatterings are represented by random walks with a certain energy loss and small angle scatterings by another ...

Mass and energy dependence of the sputtering yield of gallium arsenide

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1990
Abstract The sputtering yields of GaAs(100) bombarded at normal incidence by mass analyzed 40Ar+, 84Kr+ and 132Xe+ ions obtained from an electromagnetic isotope separator are determined in the energy range 15–35 keV. The experimental values of the sputtering yield obtained by the method of weighing the collected sputtered material are compared with ...
