Auditory-evoked masseter inhibitory reflex

Neuroscience Letters, 2010
We aimed to investigate auditory-evoked masseter inhibitory reflex and discuss possible auditory-trigeminal pathways in brainstem. Our study population consisted of 21 healthy volunteers (age-matched 7 males and 14 females). Bilateral electrical blink reflex (BR), auditory blink reflexes (ABR) and electrical MIR (MIR) were studied.

A Chronic Organized Masseter Abscess Causing Trismus Resolved by Hemi-Masseter Myotomy

Auris Nasus Larynx, 1996
We present a 62-year-old patient with a chronic organized abscess of the right masseter muscle that developed following parotidectomy. This patient's chronic abscess originated from an infection in the masticator space from the second molar. Cases of repeated parotitis should lead one to suspect a masticator space infection.

Masseter muscle rigidity after vecuronium

European Journal of Anaesthesiology, 1999
Masseter muscle rigidity after suxamethonium, usually occurring in children induced with halothane, is associated with malignant hyperthermia. A case is reported in which masseter muscle rigidity occurred in an adult following vecuronium. From the limited data available, this and two similar reported cases, it appears that non-depolarizing muscle ...
