Massive hemoptysis due to broncholithiasis
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1991Massive hemoptysis due to broncholithiasis is rare. Such a case is presented here, and the literature is reviewed. Surgical resection is the preferred definitive therapy, as a lack of bronchial artery collaterals limits the utility of bronchial artery embolization.

Massive hemoptysis in cystic fibrosis
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1970Massive hemoptysis is occurring with increasing frequency in older patients with cystic fibrosis; it signifies a poor prognosis. Twenty-nine episodes occurring in 19 patients are analyzed. Thirteen of the 19 patients died within 6 months of the initial episode. No single aspect of the pulmonary treatment program has been incriminated.
