Enhanced Random Access for Massive-Machine-Type Communications
IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 2021In this article, we study a random access (RA) scheme to alleviate the RA channel (RACH) overload problem in the massive-machine-type communication (mMTC) environment. We first propose a timing advance-based preamble resource expansion (TAPRE) scheme which effectively increases preamble resources and reduces the preamble collision probability by ...

Practical Synchronization Waveform for Massive Machine-Type Communications
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2019This paper proposes a practical synchronization waveform that is resilient to frequency error for machine-type communications with applications in massive Internet of Things (IoT). Mathematical properties of the waveform are derived, which are keys to addressing the practical issues.

Pilot beamforming for massive machine type communication systems
2017 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC), 2017In this paper, we propose a novel pilot beamforming and CSI acquisition strategy for machine-type-communication systems to achieve reduction in pilot overhead and improve the channel estimation performance. Key idea of the proposed beam-forming technique is to sparsify the time-domain channel vector using the beamforming.

RACH performance in massive machine-type communications access scenario
2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2018With the increasing number of devices performing Machine-Type Communications (MTC), mobile networks are expected to encounter a high load of burst transmissions. One bottleneck in such cases is the Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure, which is responsible for the attachment of devices, among other things. In this paper, we performed a rich-parameter

Scalable Spectrum Access System for Massive Machine Type Communication
IEEE Network, 2018Future 5G networks aspire to enable new services with vastly different data rate, latency and scalability requirements. The consensus is that these new services will fall into three categories: eMBB, URLLC, and mMTC. Due to unique characteristics of these services and the limited availability of finite spectrum resources, 5G will need to carefully map ...

Blind Source Separation for ALOHA Massive Machine Type Communications
2025 IEEE 101st Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2025-Spring)This paper studies the use of Blind Source Separation (BSS) as a replacement for Coded Random Access in diversity ALOHA massive machine-type communications. We propose a scheme for efficiently implementing BSS within the ALOHA framework, while also determining the number of active users in each slot.
