How to control for many covariates? Reliable estimators based on the propensity score [PDF]

open access: yes
We investigate the finite sample properties of a large number of estimators for the average treatment effect on the treated that are suitable when adjustment for observable covariates is required, like inverse pro¬bability weighting, kernel and other ...

Transfer of training from one working memory task to another: Behavioural and neural evidence

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2015
N-back working memory (WM) tasks necessitate the maintenance and updating of dynamic rehearsal sets during performance. The delayed matching-to-sample (dMTS) task is another WM task, which in turn involves the encoding, maintenance, and retrieval of ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

EEG and autonomic responses during performance of matching and non-matching to sample working memory tasks with emotional content.

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2011
Working memory (WM) is a neural system responsible for the temporary storage of information and its utilization in problem solving. The central executive is theorized as the controller of storage functions that support WM. Neurophysiological data suggest

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Testing Stimulus Equivalence in Transformer-Based Agents

open access: yesFuture Internet
This study investigates the ability of transformer-based models (TBMs) to form stimulus equivalence (SE) classes. We employ BERT and GPT as TBM agents in SE tasks, evaluating their performance across training structures (linear series, one-to-many and ...

Emergence of Reading and Writing in Illiterate Adults After Matching-to-Sample Tasks

open access: yesPaidéia (Ribeirão Preto), 2014
Reading and writing are behaviors that provide an individual with the opportunity for inclusion in many social environments. Despite the importance of these behaviors, statistical indices show that, in Brazil, 8.6% of the people aged 15-24 are illiterate.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

SAMPLE‐SPECIFIC RATIO EFFECTS IN MATCHING TO SAMPLE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 1983
In a symbolic matching‐to‐sample task, pigeons were trained using sample‐specific, fixed‐ratio “observing responses.” Subsequently, in a mixed condition, each sample was presented equally often with each ratio requirement, i.e., the ratios were no longer correlated with the samples.
