Statistics notes: Matching [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1994
Vibrio species are Gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria that are ubiquitous and often highly motile in aqueous environments. Vibrio swimming motility is driven by a polar flagellum covered with a membranous sheath, but this sheathed flagellum is not well understood at the molecular level because of limited structural information.

Non-parametric style transfer: Correlation-aware exact distribution matching

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences, 2023
Early feed-forward neural methods of arbitrary image style transfer utilized the encoded feature map up to its second-order statistics, i.e., mean and variance (or covariance) of the encoded feature map.

Statistical analysis of the precision of the Match method [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2005
Abstract. The Match method quantifies chemical ozone loss in the polar stratosphere. The basic idea consists in calculating the forward trajectory of an air parcel that has been probed by an ozone measurement (e.g., by an ozone sonde or satellite) and finding a second ozone measurement close to this trajectory. Such an event is called a ''match''.

Improved Feature Matching ORB-SLAM Algorithm for Dense Mapping [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2023
In the mainstream feature-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping(SLAM) method, feature matching is a key step in estimating camera motion. However, the local characteristics of image features cause widespread mismatch and have become a major ...

Continuous Monitoring of Distributed Data Streams over a Time-based Sliding Window [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The past decade has witnessed many interesting algorithms for maintaining statistics over a data stream. This paper initiates a theoretical study of algorithms for monitoring distributed data streams over a time-based sliding window (which contains a ...

The impact of land ownership, firefighting, and reserve status on fire probability in California

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2018
The extent of wildfires in the western United States is increasing, but how land ownership, firefighting, and reserve status influence fire probability is unclear.

Matching Methods for Causal Inference: A Review and a Look Forward [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
When estimating causal effects using observational data, it is desirable to replicate a randomized experiment as closely as possible by obtaining treated and control groups with similar covariate distributions. This goal can often be achieved by choosing
