Fast Algorithms for Computing the Statistics of Pattern Matching
Pattern matching is a fundamental problem in theoretical computer science. The algorithms for pattern matching and the study on the statistics of pattern matching have found enormous applications in practical fields.

Forecasting football matches by predicting match statistics [PDF]
This paper considers the use of observed and predicted match statistics as inputs to forecasts for the outcomes of football matches. It is shown that, were it possible to know the match statistics in advance, highly informative forecasts of the match outcome could be made.

Statistical matching for conservation science [PDF]
AbstractThe awareness of the need for robust impact evaluations in conservation is growing and statistical matching techniques are increasingly being used to assess the impacts of conservation interventions. Used appropriately matching approaches are powerful tools, but they also pose potential pitfalls.

Statistical analysis of the precision of the Match method [PDF]
Abstract. The Match method quantifies chemical ozone loss in the polar stratosphere. The basic idea consists in calculating the forward trajectory of an air parcel that has been probed by an ozone measurement (e.g., by an ozone sonde or satellite) and finding a second ozone measurement close to this trajectory. Such an event is called a ''match''.

Statistical Properties of Color Matching Functions [PDF]
AbstractIn trichromats, color vision entails the projection of an infinite-dimensional space (the one containing all possible electromagnetic power spectra) onto the three-dimensional space that modulates the activity of the three types of cones. This drastic reduction in dimensionality gives rise to metamerism, that is, the perceptual chromatic ...

Where You Are Is Who You Are: User Identification by Matching Statistics [PDF]
Most users of online services have unique behavioral or usage patterns. These behavioral patterns can be exploited to identify and track users by using only the observed patterns in the behavior.

Formulating the history matching problem with consistent error statistics
It is common to formulate the history-matching problem using Bayes’ theorem. From Bayes’, the conditional probability density function (pdf) of the uncertain model parameters is proportional to the prior pdf of the model parameters, multiplied by the ...

Statistics notes: Matching [PDF]
Vibrio species are Gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria that are ubiquitous and often highly motile in aqueous environments. Vibrio swimming motility is driven by a polar flagellum covered with a membranous sheath, but this sheathed flagellum is not well understood at the molecular level because of limited structural information.
