We present a novel approach to study the local and global stability of families of one-dimensional discrete dynamical systems, which is especially suitable for difference equations obtained as a convex combination of two topologically conjugated maps ...

Limit weierstrass points on nodal reducible curves
In the 1980s D. Eisenbud and J. Harris posed the following question: What are the limits of Weierstrass points in families of curves degenerating to stable curves not of compact type? In the present article, we give a partial answer to this question.

Multimode Phonon Lasing via Self‐Induced Optical Coherent Pumping
A silicon optomechanical nanobeam generates self‐sustained phonon lasing in multiple competing mechanical modes via self‐pulsing, an intrinsic optical modulation arising from cavity nonlinearity. This self‐organized mechanism enables robust multi‐frequency operation spanning periodic, quasi‐periodic, and chaotic regimes without external modulation. The

High Relative Accuracy Computations With Covariance Matrices of Order Statistics
ABSTRACT In many statistical applications, numerical computations with covariance matrices need to be performed. The error made when performing such numerical computations increases with the condition number of the covariance matrix, which is related to the number of variables and the strength of the correlation between the variables. In a recent work,

ABSTRACT We investigate some chemostat models incorporating wall growth, competition, random fluctuations on the dilution rate, and different consumption functions (Monod and Haldane). We analyze the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the corresponding random differential systems to establish conditions on the model parameters under which the ...

Sundman‐Like Transformations and the NRT Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation
ABSTRACT We present a new generalization of the well‐known power‐type Sundman transformation, involving not only powers of the function but also of its derivative, along with its inverse. Our aim is to explore the use of such transformations in the derivation of solutions of ordinary differential equations and in the study of their properties.

An Exact Method for Reliable Shortest Path Problems With Correlation
ABSTRACT Shortest path problems often arise in contexts where travel times are uncertain. In these settings, reliable paths are often valued more than paths with lower expected travel times. This has led to several variants of reliable shortest path problems (RSPP) that handle travel time reliability differently. We propose an algorithmic framework for

Robust Minimum Divergence Estimation for the Multinomial Circular Logistic Regression Model
Circular data are extremely important in many different contexts of natural and social science, from forestry to sociology, among many others. Since the usual inference procedures based on the maximum likelihood principle are known to be extremely non ...
