Advancing Age Modulates Associations Between Cognitive Impairment and Brain Volumes in Early MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS), but manifestations following the first demyelinating event are relatively unexplored. We investigated cross‐sectional associations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)–derived brain volumes and the presence of cognitive impairment outcomes five years after the first ...

Flow Resistance of Textile Materials

Textile Research Journal, 2003
Part I of this series presented a new model for predicting the flow resistance of monofilament fabrics. In this part, the model is applied to the flow resistance of multi filament fabrics. Experiments show that flow resistance in multifilament fabrics can be modeled in general, but it appears that the method is not suitable for modeling flow resistance

Flows of Materials with Yield

Journal of Rheology, 1987
Steady, two-dimensional flows of Bingham fluids are analyzed by means of a modified constitutive relation that applies everywhere in the flow field, in both yielded and practically unyielded regions. The conservation equations and the constitutive relation are solved simultaneously by Galerkin finite element and Newton iteration.

Identification of material flow systems

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 1997
Material Flow Analysis (MFA) has become an important instrument in environmental science and pollution research. In this paper, we look at the MFA problem as a particularly structured system identification problem. Special emphasis is given to the linear, static case, where we describe a procedure for reconciliating the flow measurements and for ...

Retarded Flow of Bingham Materials

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1959
Abstract The solutions for three cases of retarded flow of a rigid-viscous material are given. These cases are: (a) Sliding parallel plates; (b) Couette flow between concentric cylinders; and (c) axial flow through a circular pipe. For Couette flow two types of loading-unloading paths are found.

Material Flows and Efficiency

Annual Review of Materials Research, 2022
Attempts to track material flows and the calculation of efficiency for material systems go hand in hand. Questions of where materials come from, where materials go to, and how much material is lost along the way are embedded in human societies. This article reviews material flows, their analysis, and progress toward material efficiency. We focus first

The material flow concept for materials

Nonrenewable Resources, 1996
Mineral supply and demand data were used to track the flow of a material from its source through stages of production, processing, and fabrication into the consumption and postconsumption phases. In each stage prior to consumption, the quantity of material lost to the environment or recovered for reuse was determined.

The concept and theory of material flow

Information Systems Frontiers, 2008
This paper, for the first time, presents seven main theories under the Material Flow (MF) Theory, namely "Material flow theory", "Comprehensive MF theory", "MF element theory", "MF nature theory", "MF science and technology theory", "MF engineering theory" and "MF industry theory". The paper points out that the MF is the collective term for the flow of
