Dual-Band Plasmonic Perfect Absorber Based on Graphene Metamaterials for Refractive Index Sensing Application

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
We demonstrate a dual-band plasmonic perfect absorber (PA) based on graphene metamaterials. Two absorption peaks (22.5 μm and 74.5 μm) with the maximal absorption of 99.4% and 99.9% have been achieved, respectively.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Nanomechanical properties of neutron-irradiated concrete

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings
Concrete exposed to irradiation from nuclear reactor undergoes atomic-level degradation due to the influence of neutrons, secondary gamma rays, and associated gamma heating. The radiationinduced damage decreases the mechanical properties of the concrete

Numerical Investigation on the Role of Mechanical Factors Contributing to Globe Flattening in States of Elevated Intracranial Pressure

open access: yesLife, 2020
Flattening of the posterior eye globe in the magnetic resonance (MR) images is a sign associated with elevated intracranial pressure (ICP), often seen in people with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH).

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

A machine learning model with minimize feature parameters for multi-type hydrogen evolution catalyst prediction

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials
The vast chemical compositional space presents challenges in catalyst development using traditional methods. Machine learning (ML) offers new opportunities, but current ML models are typically limited to screening a single catalyst type. In this work, we

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.
