EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Combustion method for assay of biological materials labeled with carbon-14 or tritium, or double-labeled [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Dry catalytic combustion at high temperatures is used for assaying biological materials labeled carbon-14 and tritium, or double-labeled. A modified oxygen-flask technique is combined with standard vacuum-line techniques and includes convenience of ...

Low-Temperature Rapid Synthesis and Superconductivity of Fe-Based Oxypnictide Superconductors

open access: yes, 2010
we were able to develop a novel method to synthesize Fe-based oxypnictide superconductors. By using LnAs and FeO as the starting materials and a ball-milling process prior to solid-state sintering, Tc as high as 50.7 K was obtained with the sample of Sm ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Spark plasma effect on microstructure and mechanical properties of alumina-nickel-cobalt composite

open access: yesCerâmica
Spark plasma sintering (SPS) is an advanced process of sintering materials at low temperatures and short time by creating spark plasma at very high temperatures in the small points and short times, by which materials with high sintering temperature can ...

Evidence of a temperature transition for denuded zone formation in nanocrystalline Fe under He irradiation

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2017
Nanocrystalline materials are radiation-tolerant materials’ candidates due to their high defect sink density. Here, nanocrystalline iron films were irradiated with 10 keV helium ions in situ in a transmission electron microscope at elevated temperatures.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Ultrahigh Pressure Generation at High Temperatures in a Walker-Type Large-Volume Press and Multiple Applications

open access: yesEngineering
Ultrahigh pressure generation at high temperatures is technologically challenging for large sample volumes. In this study, we successfully generated pressures of 37.3–40.4 GPa at 1900–2100 K in a Walker-type large-volume press (LVP).
