Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) Extract Alleviates Atherosclerosis in ApoE−/− Mice

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
Oral administration of purslane extract at 400 mg/lg/day for 4 weeks reduces atherosclerotic plaque formation, endothelial dysfunction, and vascular inflammation through suppressing the MAPK pathway and activating AMPK/PI3K/Akt/eNOS pathway in ApoE−/− mice. ABSTRACT Portulaca oleracea L.

Removal of Gadolinium Ions Using Modified Sea Sand Substrate From Water Environment and Impact of Ions on Gadolinium Replacement From Contrast MRI Agent

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Gadolinium in the form of complex compounds is used as a contrast agent in medicine diagnostic for magnetic resonance imaging. Gadolinium‐based contrast agents are divided into linear and macrocyclic substances in ionic or nonionic forms. Gd3+ toxic ions can be replaced from these compounds by cations such as Fe3+ and Cu2+. Gadolinium inhibits

Confinement of Polariton Condensates in Quasi‐Flat Band BICs in Plasmonic and Dielectric Metasurfaces

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
ABSTRACT We investigate exciton–polariton condensation in square arrays, composed of either dielectric silicon (Si) or plasmonic silver (Ag) nanodisks, covered with a dye‐doped layer. Both arrays support symmetry‐protected bound states in the continuum (BICs) at normal incidence, featuring electric quadrupolar Qxy $\left({Q}_{xy}\right)$ and magnetic ...

Resonant Dyakonov–Shur Magnetoplasmons in Graphene Terahertz Photodetectors

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
Cavity‐confined Dyakonov–Shur plasmons in graphene evolve into magnetoplasmons by an external perpendicular magnetic field. Gate‐tunable THz photocurrent spectroscopy reveals their dispersion over a broad frequency range, uncovering a nonmonotonic behavior in monolayer graphene in contrast to the conventional response of bilayer graphene.

Incorporating QM/MM Molecular Dynamics Into the Few‐Mode Quantization Approach for Light–Matter Interactions in Nanophotonic Structures

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
By incorporating an ab‐initio or first‐principles description of molecular emitters into a recent quantum optics approach that allows to accurately describe the electromagnetic field in nanophotonic environments, employing just a few quantised modes, we study the dynamics of realistic light–matter system with finite computational resources.

A Convenient One‐Pot CuI‐Catalyzed Procedure for the Synthesis of S‐(N‐Heteroaryl) Thiocarboxylates From N‐Heteroaryl Bromides and Thiobenzoic Acid

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
A one‐pot two‐step CuI‐catalyzed procedure for the synthesis of S‐(N‐heteroaryl) thiocarboxylates from N‐heteroaryl bromides and thiobenzoic acid was developed, which is highlighted by shorter reaction time, a smaller amount of iodide source and scalability.

Surface Functionalization of Polyetheretherketone With Immobilized γ‐Polyglutamic Acid for Enhanced Apatite Formation

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
The authors developed chemical solution process to immobilize γ‐polyglutamic acid (γ‐PGA) onto polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Prior hydrophilic treatment using UV irradiation improved the immobilization efficiency of γ‐PGA and the apatite‐forming ability in simulated body fluid compared with acetic acid treatment.
