Loss of maternal SETDB1, a histone H3K9 methyltransferase, leads to developmental arrest prior to implantation, with very few mouse embryos advancing beyond the eight-cell stage, which is currently unexplained. We genetically investigate SETDB1’s role in

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

WEIGHT VARIATIONS IN NEWBORN DOMESTIC PIGS AND THE ADAPTATION PROCESS
This article shows that weight dynamics in newborn domestic pig individuals reflects adaptive changes in the gene pool of the population. Our results show that the coordination of the gene pool with altered ambient conditions in domestic pigs may be long.

Admixture between crops and their wild relatives may lead to the evolution of aggressive weeds in agricultural and natural habitat. As many crops and their wild relatives belong to the same species, admixture is common, and the low fitness of crop‐wild ...

ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Zfp57 Exerts Maternal and Sexually Dimorphic Effects on Genomic Imprinting
Zfp57 has both maternal and zygotic functions in mouse. It maintains genomic imprinting at most known imprinted regions and controls allelic expression of the target imprinted genes in mouse embryos. The DNA methylation imprint at many imprinting control
