Control Law for Two-Process Flexible Manufacturing Systems Modeled Using Petri Nets

open access: yesMathematics
The deadlock control problem in flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) has received much attention in recent years. The formalism of the Petri net is employed to effectively model, analyze, and control deadlocks in an FMS case study.

Effects of Inclination Angles on the Hydrodynamics of Knotless Net Panels in Currents

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Knotless nets have been extensively used in sea cages and offshore fish farms; the explicit illustrations of local flow patterns and subjected hydrodynamic loads have practical implications for the safe operations of aquaculture pens in open oceans ...

First-Order Event Plane Correlated Directed and Triangular Flow from Fixed-Target Energies at RHIC-STAR

open access: yesUniverse
We report the measurement of first-order event plane-correlated directed flow (v1) and triangular flow (v3) for identified hadrons (π±, K±, and p), net particle (net-K, net-p), and light nuclei (d and t) in Au + Au collisions at sNN = 3.2, 3.5, and 3.9 ...

Analysis of the Maximum Efficiency and the Maximum Net Power as Objective Functions for Organic Rankine Cycles Optimization

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Maximum efficiency and maximum net power output are some of the most important goals to reach the optimal conditions of organic Rankine cycles. This work compares two objective functions, the maximum efficiency function, β, and the maximum net power ...

Studying the Operation of an All-PM Yb-Doped Fiber Laser Oscillator at Negative and Positive Net Cavity Dispersion

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Chirped fiber Bragg gratings in Yb-doped fiber lasers allow tuning the net cavity dispersion, thus enabling access to pulse dynamics beyond the typical all-normal-dispersion dissipative soliton regime.

Criterion‐Related Validity of the Neuropsychological Quick Assessment for Screening Cognitive, Motor, and Behavioral Impairments in Patients With Pediatric Brain Tumors: An Observational Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuropsychological complications may impair the qualitative prognosis of patients with pediatric brain tumors. However, multifaceted evaluations cannot be conducted in all patients because they are time consuming and burdensome for patients.

Net Electron Capture in Collisions of Multiply Charged Projectiles with Biologically Relevant Molecules

open access: yesAtoms, 2020
A model for the description of proton collisions from molecules composed of atoms such as hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and phosphorus (H, C, N, O, P) was recently extended to treat collisions with multiply charged ions with a focus on net ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.
