Characterizations of bivariate conic, extreme value, and Archimax copulas

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2017
Based on a general construction method by means of bivariate ultramodular copulas we construct, for particular settings, special bivariate conic, extreme value, and Archimax copulas. We also show that the sets of copulas obtained in this way are dense in

Supporting AI Readiness Through Digital Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Digitalization drives innovation in materials science by connecting data silos and turning heterogeneous processes into reusable research pipelines. Across 13 MaterialDigital projects, digital workflows reveal complementary pathways toward AI‐ready materials research, founded on structured data, persistent artifacts, executable orchestration, and ...

Teaching mathematics as the contextual application of mathematical modes of enquiry

open access: yes, 2010
We have explored the teacher task of preparation of resources in order to investigate our hypothesis that mathematical modes of enquiry are an important component of mathematical knowledge for teachers. We set up an artificial resource ..

Experience and Mathematical Knowledge

open access: yesPrincipia: An International Journal of Epistemology, 2017
According to a very common view, the main tenet of empiricism is the conviction that all human knowledge derives from sensory experience. But classic philosophers representing empiricism hold that mathematical knowledge is a priori.

Embedded Ferroelectric Nanoclusters Can Drive Polarization Reversal in a Non‐Ferroelectric Polar Film via the Proximity Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric nanoclusters create local internal fields in a normally non‐switchable polar film because of polarization mismatch at their interfaces. That field opposes polarization in the regions with larger polarization and reinforces polarization in the regions with smaller polarization.

Enhanced Ferroelectric Phase Formation via Local Structure Modification in the Pre‐Crystalline State of Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hafnium zirconium oxide thin films are grown using plasma‐enhanced atomic layer deposition with the addition of an atomic layer annealing (ALA) step. ALA leads to a change in the short‐range structure of the deposit and encourages formation of the ferroelectric Pca21 phase. The result is wake‐up‐free performance with films exposed to ALA.

Intellectual need for mathematical knowledge

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2019
Harel’s [2] notion of intel lectual need is refined by employing Davis’ [1] findings about interesting propositions in social sciences. A few hypothetical examples of how this revised definition might aid in planning mathematics lessons which provide ...

Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Mathematical Knowledge, the Analytic Method, and Naturalism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter tries to answer the following question: How should we conceive of the method of mathematics, if we take a naturalist stance? The problem arises since mathematical knowledge is regarded as the paradigm of certain knowledge, because ...

Mathematical model for knowledge testing

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2008
There is a mathematical model for obtaining test responses probability distribution proposed. This enables to formulate recomendations for selection of test items for different groups of tested population according to their attainment level.
