A mathematical model for a wake.
A free boundary problem for a wake around an obstacle in a two dimensional incompressible, inviscid fluid flow has been considered. Sufficient conditions for the existence of wakes in doubly and simply connected starlike regions have been formulated.

Dynamics of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Under Imatinib Treatment: A Study of Resistance Development
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a hematological disorder characterized by the abnormal proliferation of leukemic cells. This study aims to model the dynamics of leukemic and healthy cell populations in CML, considering the role of the immune system and

Approximation of step functions in problems of mathematical modeling
New methods of approximation of step functions with an estimation of the error of the approximation are suggested. The suggested methods do not have any of the disadvantages of traditional approximations of step functions by means of Fourier series and ...

Mathematical Models in Newton’s Principia: A New View of the “Newtonian Style” [PDF]
In this essay I argue against Bernard I. Cohen’s influential account of Newton’s methodology in the Principia: the “Newtonian Style”. The crux of Cohen’s account is the successive adaptation of “mental constructs” through comparisons with nature.

On an Ambrosetti-Prodi Type Problem with Applications in Modeling Real Phenomena
This work presents a solving method for problems of Ambrosetti-Prodi type involving p-Laplacian and p-pseudo-Laplacian operators by using adequate variational methods. A variant of the mountain pass theorem, together with a kind of Palais-Smale condition,

A Weighted Problem for p-Laplacian Discussed with a Result of Saddle Point Type
Weighted problems for the p-Laplacian represent a wide range of models arising from real-world research. Solving such problems involves, in many situations, variational approaches that are various and a virtually inexhaustible resource.
