The aporetic dialogs of Modena on gender differences: Is it all about testosterone? Episode III: Mathematics

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 335-344, February 2026.
Abstract This report is the transcript of what was discussed in a convention at the Endocrinology Unit in Modena, Italy, in the form of the aporetic dialogs of ancient Greece. It is the third episode of a series of four discussions on the differences between males and females, with a multidisciplinary approach. In this work, the role of testosterone in

Mind‐Muscle‐Environment Interactions: Psychophysiological Determinants of Optimal Pacing in Olympic Winter Endurance Sports

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Pacing is a critical determinant of performance in Olympic endurance winter sports such as cross‐country skiing, biathlon, and speed skating. Although the physiological (“engine”) and psychological (“operator”) determinants of pacing have frequently been examined in isolation, growing evidence highlights the need for an integrated ...

Looking Forward: Evaluating Management Scenarios for an Isolated Amphibian Population in a Dynamic Coastal Environment

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Amphibians in coastal ecosystems risk local extirpation, particularly when isolated. ABSTRACT Urbanisation impacts biodiversity in coastal ecosystems. Conservation management is needed to improve species persistence in such areas where populations have become small and fragmented.

Evaluating the Use of Environmental DNA as a Method to Determine Occupancy and Distribution of Coeur d'Alene Salamanders in Montana

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
The purpose of this project was to evaluate the efficacy of eDNA sampling to determine occupancy of Coeur d'Alene salamanders, an “imperiled” species in Montana. Previous methods used to identify occupied sites were haphazard with no measure of detection probability. Due to the unique habitat used by these salamanders (seeps and waterfall spray zones),

The number of point-splitting circles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Let S be a set of 2n+1 points in the plane such that no three are collinear and no four are concyclic. A circle will be called point-splitting if it has 3 points of S on its circumference, n-1 points in its interior and n-1 in its exterior.

Core Concepts for Early Childhood Microbiology Education

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
Early childhood microbiology education is both feasible and practical. Ciencia Maravilla promotes the learning of core concepts by implementing hands‐on activities and narrative‐based strategies. ABSTRACT This article explores how microbiology can be meaningfully integrated into science education for preschoolers, children under 6 years old.

A Design of an Axisymmetric Roof With a Horizontal Rotation Axis

open access: yesStudies in Applied Mathematics, Volume 156, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This research proposes a novel roof design whose shape follows the mathematical model of an ideal hanging surface. The resulting roof is a surface of revolution, but its rotation axis is horizontal, which challenges conventional intuition because the axis is perpendicular to the direction of gravity.
