Schwinger Generating Functional Derivation of LHC Elastic Proton-Proton Scattering Amplitudes

open access: yes, 2018
A recent Schwinger Generating Functional based formulation, by H.M.Fried,Y.Gabellini,T.Grandou and Y-M.Sheu and P.H.Tsang provided gauge-invariant, exact, non-perturbative solutions for QCD.

Symbolic-numeric interface: A review [PDF]

open access: yes
A survey of the use of a combination of symbolic and numerical calculations is presented. Symbolic calculations primarily refer to the computer processing of procedures from classical algebra, analysis, and calculus.

Integrated and Differentiated Spaces of Triangular Fuzzy Numbers

open access: yes, 2017
Fuzzy sets are the cornerstone of a non-additive uncertainty theory, namely possibility theory, and of a versatile tool for both linguistic and numerical modeling.

Matrix Structure Exploitation in Generalized Eigenproblems Arising in Density Functional Theory

open access: yes, 2009
In this short paper, the authors report a new computational approach in the context of Density Functional Theory (DFT). It is shown how it is possible to speed up the self-consistent cycle (iteration) characterizing one of the most well-known DFT ...

A mathematical analysis of numerical integration of electromagnetism seismograms [PDF]

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1944
GALITZIN has shown that for electromagnetic seismograms the earth‐motion may be expressed in terms of (1) the derivative of the trace‐amplitude, (2) the trace‐amplitude, (3) the first integral, (4) the second integral, and (5) the third integral. Now NEUMANN has developed an ingenious method of numerical integration for use on accelerometer‐records, in ...

A mathematical and numerical analysis of the Maxwell-Stefan diffusion equations

open access: yesDiscrete & Continuous Dynamical Systems - B, 2012
We consider the Maxwell-Stefan model of diffusion in a multicomponent gaseous mixture. After focusing on the main differences with the Fickian diffusion model, we study the equations governing a three-component gas mixture. Mostly in the case of a tridiagonal diffusion matrix, we provide a qualitative and quantitative mathematical analysis of the model.

Angles between subspaces and their tangents

open access: yes, 2013
Principal angles between subspaces (PABS) (also called canonical angles) serve as a classical tool in mathematics, statistics, and applications, e.g., data mining. Traditionally, PABS are introduced via their cosines.

Composites with a periodic structure: mathematical analysis and numerical treatment

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1985
AbstractThis paper introduces a systematic approach for the derivation of models that describe the behavior of composites with a periodic structure. A technique for analyzing the accuracy of the models is addressed. Although the theory has been developed for the general, n-dimensional setting, the main ideas in this paper are presented for the 1 ...
