Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Gender Issues in Mathematics: An Ontario Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Teaching and Learning, 2012
In many developed countries, including Canada, it is often perceived that gender issues in mathematics have been ‘solved’ and are no longer a relevant and timely issue.

Research on Ethanol Coupling to Prepare C4 Olefins Based on BP Neural Network and Cluster Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2022
Ethanol, as a clean energy source, is an ideal raw material for the preparation of C4 olefins, but there are few studies on the preparation of C4 olefins by the coupling of ethanol.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Reliability Evaluation and Optimization of a System with Mixed Run Shock

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
In this paper, we investigate a wear and mixed shock model in which the system can fail due to internal aging or external shocks. The lifetime of the system, due to internal wear, follows continuous phase-type (PH) distributions.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Solving Fractional Generalized Fisher–Kolmogorov–Petrovsky–Piskunov’s Equation Using Compact-Finite Different Methods Together with Spectral Collocation Algorithms

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
The main target of this work is presenting two efficient accurate algorithms for solving numerically one of the most important models in physics and engineering mathematics, Fisher–Kolmogorov–Petrovsky–Piskunov’s equation (Fisher-KPP) with fractional ...
