Multimodal Chemical Analysis of the Brain by High Mass Resolution Mass Spectrometry and Infrared Spectroscopic Imaging.

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2018
The brain functions through chemical interactions between many different cell types, including neurons and glia. Acquiring comprehensive information on complex, heterogeneous systems requires multiple analytical tools, each of which have unique chemical ...

Composite bond strength improvement with thermal vibration: an experimental non-randomised study

open access: yesКубанский научный медицинский вестник, 2021
Background. Secondary caries formation is a relevant issue due to poor long-term quality of composite fillings, with inherent subsequent chipping and cracking of the material.

Comparing matrix models and QCD lattice data with chemical potential [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys.B(Proc.Suppl.)129&130(2004)527, 2003
We present a quantitative analysis of the microscopic Dirac spectrum which is complex in the presence of a non-vanishing quark chemical potential. Data from quenched SU(3) lattice simulations for different volumes V and small values of the chemical potential are compared to analytical predictions from matrix models.

Data-driven discovery of multiscale chemical reactions governed by the law of mass action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
In this paper, we propose a data-driven method to discover multiscale chemical reactions governed by the law of mass action. First, we use a single matrix to represent the stoichiometric coefficients for both the reactants and products in a system without catalysis reactions. The negative entries in the matrix denote the stoichiometric coefficients for

A Random Matrix Model for Color Superconductivity at Zero Chemical Potential [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. D61 (2000) 076004, 1999
We discuss random matrix models for the spontaneous breaking of both chiral and color symmetries at zero chemical potential and finite temperature. Exploring different Lorentz and gauge symmetric color structures of the random matrix interactions, we find that spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking is always thermodynamically preferred over diquark ...

Characterizing the Urban Mine—Challenges of Simplified Chemical Analysis of Anthropogenic Mineral Residues

open access: yesResources, 2019
Anthropogenic mineral residues are characterized by their material complexity and heterogeneity, which pose challenges to the chemical analysis of multiple elements.

Localized corrosion induced surface modifications of Al-Cu-Li alloy studied by ToF-SIMS 3D imaging

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation, 2021
Three-dimensional (3D) time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) imaging is a promising tool in the analysis of surface modifications of alloy matrix and intermetallic particles induced by localized corrosion due to its good spatial ...

pyJac: analytical Jacobian generator for chemical kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesComput. Phys. Comm. 215 (2017) 188-203, 2016
Accurate simulations of combustion phenomena require the use of detailed chemical kinetics in order to capture limit phenomena such as ignition and extinction as well as predict pollutant formation. However, the chemical kinetic models for hydrocarbon fuels of practical interest typically have large numbers of species and reactions and exhibit high ...

Enhancing the solvent resistance and thermomechanical properties of thermoplastic acrylic polymers and composites via reactive hybridisation

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
This work demonstrates the use of an engineering thermoplastic, poly(phenylene ether) (PPE) to enhance the solvent resistance and thermomechanical properties of liquid acrylic resin-based composites by a reactive hybridisation route.
