Improvement in the control range of matrix converters
2011 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2011This paper is focused on the improvement of the control range of matrix converters operating with non-unity input power factor. The analysis leads to the determination in closed form of a modulation strategy that allows a maximum output voltage greater than that of the traditional strategies under the same operating conditions.

A Family of Z-Source Matrix Converters
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2012This paper extends the Z-source concept to matrix converters and explores a family of Z-source matrix converters. Their principles and characteristics are analyzed, and a simplified voltage-fed Z-source matrix converter is used as an example to demonstrate its operation, voltage gain versus modulation index, PWM method, boost control, and ...

Range of the Linear Modulation in Matrix Converters
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2014This paper is focused on the improvement of the control range of matrix converters operating with nonunity input power factor. The analysis leads to the determination in closed form of a modulation strategy that allows increasing the maximum output voltage compared to the traditional strategies under the same operating conditions.

LLC Resonant Converter With Matrix Transformer
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2014In this paper, a high efficiency high power density matrix transformer structure for LLC resonant converters is proposed. Matrix transformer is help to reduce leakage inductance and the AC resistance of windings. Flux cancellation method is utilized to reduce core size and loss.

A direct control method for matrix converters
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2002Until now, direct control methods have been mainly investigated and used in conjunction with voltage source converters. In this paper, the authors develop a direct current control method for matrix converters. There are two objectives for the direct current control: the desired current has to be impressed into the load, and the current, drawn from the ...

A new family of matrix converters
IECON'01. 27th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.37243), 2002A new family of matrix converters is introduced, that employs relatively simple voltage-clamped buses and can generate multilevel voltage waveforms of arbitrary magnitude and frequency. The basic configuration includes a nine-switch matrix that uses four-quadrant switch cells.

Integrated matrix converter switch
2013 IEEE 10th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS), 2013This paper presents the design, assembly, functional test and preliminary technology assessment of highly integrated power switches for matrix converter application. The design is based on a built-in reliability approach and is verified experimentally by both functional and reliability tests. The assembly is based on a fully bond-wire-less double-sided

Protection circuit for the matrix converter
2008 34th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2008In this paper a protection circuit is presented by which the matrix converter is protected using a free wheeling path available any time. This conducts the load current if necessary, so that the parts of the inverter can not be damaged. With this feature, no complicated commutation strategy and control method are necessary to operate the matrix ...

Current source matrix converter
2015 16th International Conference of Young Specialists on Micro/Nanotechnologies and Electron Devices, 2015In this article a Current Source Matrix Converter is considered. A feedback control system with Power Factor Correction is developed for the converter Direct and Indirect structures. The operation principles and modulation techniques are introduced and described. Also the proposed control strategy is verified by computer simulation and obtained results

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 1997
A topology of a single-phase AC/AC direct power converter is presented. The circuit, composed from four ideal power switches, is used as a frequency step-up converter. The equations of the proposed converter are developed, its switching angle pattern is calculated and the dynamic behaviour of the system is simulated.
