Matrix converter control for DFIG
2013 IEEE International Conference on Emerging & Sustainable Technologies for Power & ICT in a Developing Society (NIGERCON), 2013The matrix converter is made up of a matrix of bidirectional switch elements. The output voltage control is achieved by switching between the allowed switching states using a predetermined sequence. Filters can be used to remove the unwanted high frequency components due to the switching.

Multiphase matrix converter for power systems application
2008 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2008A matrix NxM Multiphase Converter (MC) is a very simple structure incorporating NxM bi-directional switches, connecting N input phases to M output phases and able to convert input voltages into output voltages of any shape and frequency. However, commutation problems and complicated control algorithms keep it from being utilized on a large scale.

The matrix converter - future possibilities
IEE Colloquium on Update on New Power Electronic Techniques, 1997The matrix power converter permits direct AC-AC power conversion without an intermediate DC link and therefore represents an "all silicon" solution as the power converter for variable speed AC drives. Compared to conventional drives, there is potential for reduced cost of manufacture and maintenance, and increased power/weight and power/volume ratios ...
