Skin Lesion Segmentation in Clinical Images Using Nonnegative Matrix Factorization and Mutual Information

open access: yesIEEE Access
Early detection of cutaneous melanoma is crucial for improving patient survival rates. Skin lesion segmentation is a critical step towards computer-aided diagnosis that is effective in melanoma detection. This work proposes a novel patch-based model that

Highly efficient parallel direct solver for solving dense complex matrix equations from method of moments

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2017
Based on the vectorised and cache optimised kernel, a parallel lower upper decomposition with a novel communication avoiding pivoting scheme is developed to solve dense complex matrix equations generated by the method of moments.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Nodal Decompositions of a Symmetric Matrix

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices
Abstract Analyzing nodal domains is a way to discern the structure of eigenvectors of operators on a graph. We give a new definition extending the concept of nodal domains to arbitrary signed graphs, and therefore to arbitrary symmetric matrices.

From Low Symmetry to High Dissymmetry: Chiral Plasmonic Films of Binary and Nanobipyramid Assemblies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work develops highly dissymmetric chiral plasmonic thin films by helically assembling gold nano bipyramids within a liquid‐crystal template. Engineering of the chiroptical response is achieved by varying particle size and geometry, as well as preparing binary assemblies.

A matrix decomposition and its applications [PDF]

open access: yesLinear and Multilinear Algebra, 2014
We show the uniqueness and construction (of the Z matrix in Theorem 2.1, to be exact) of a matrix decomposition and give an affirmative answer to a question proposed in [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 407 (2013) 436-442].

Engineering Strategies for 2D Layered Tin Halide Perovskite Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D halide perovskites are promising candidates for field‐effect transistor (FET) applications due to their high stability and suppressed ion migration in the presence of bulky organic spacers. This review systematically summarizes the optimization engineering strategies of 2D perovskite FETs and future challenges, which provide guidance for developing ...
