Using Platelet-Rich Fibrin to Remove Graphite Tattoos May Yield Excellent Long-Term Result [PDF]
Graphite tattoos are rarely reported because they are mainly caused by an accidental injury or habits during childhood that cause a pencil to penetrate the oral mucosa.

Typical matrix eigenvalue problems, quadratic or linear, are best formulated as pencils \((A,M)\) in which both \(A\) and \(M\) are real and symmetric. This fact is emphasized in the paper through a set of physical examples. Then, the canonical forms are used to explain the role of the sign characteristic attached to real eigenvalues.

Lur’e equations and even matrix pencils
The set of solutions of Lur'e equations in terms of deflating subspaces of even matrix pencils is characterized. It is shown that there exist special extremal solutions in terms of definiteness and a procedure to construct these solutions via deflating subspaces of even matrix pencils is formulated.

On the Nearest Singular Matrix Pencil [PDF]
Given a regular matrix pencil A + μE, we consider the problem of determining the nearest singular matrix pencil with respect to the Frobenius norm. We present new approaches based on the solution of matrix differential equations for determining the nearest singular pencil A + ΔA + μ(E + ΔE), one approach for general singular pencils and another one ...

In this paper we address the issue of output-feedback robust control for a class of feedforward nonlinear systems. Essentially different from the related literature, the feedback/input signals are corrupted by additive noises and can only be transmitted ...

Matrix pencils and entanglement classification [PDF]
Quantum entanglement plays a central role in quantum information processing. A main objective of the theory is to classify different types of entanglement according to their interconvertibility through manipulations that do not require additional entanglement to perform.

Matrix pencil and system poles [PDF]
Abstract Poles of a linear time-invariant system can be extracted from a matrix pencil constructed from the transient response of the system. Three subspace filtering techniques applicable to the matrix pencil method are presented briefly in a unified way.

Hilbert’s 17th problem in free skew fields
This paper solves the rational noncommutative analogue of Hilbert’s 17th problem: if a noncommutative rational function is positive semidefinite on all tuples of Hermitian matrices in its domain, then it is a sum of Hermitian squares of noncommutative ...

Pseudospectra of Loewner Matrix Pencils
Loewner matrix pencils play a central role in the system realization theory of Mayo and Antoulas, an important development in data-driven modeling. The eigenvalues of these pencils reveal system poles. How robust are the poles recovered via Loewner realization?
