Real‐time quality and safety monitoring of fruit juice using paper‐based platform

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 140-162, March 2026.
Schematic illustration of a paper‐based biosensor for rapid detection of fruit juice spoilage. Abstract Food spoilage and safety concerns still remain critically challenging within the fruit juice industry, especially as conventional detection methods, though precise, are often too time‐consuming, costly, and reliant on centralized laboratories.

Highly Durable and Uniform Structural Coloration via Spray‐Coated Organic Mie Resonators Randomly Distributed in Three Dimensions

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 5, 6 March 2026.
This study demonstrates uniform, durable non‐iridescent structural coloration using polystyrene nanoparticles randomly embedded in a thick sodium silicate with absorptive additives. By suppressing the effects of the structure factor and multiple scattering, this approach achieves uniform coloration from the backscattering.

Ion Chemistry in Dielectric Barrier Discharge Ionization: Recent Advances in Direct Gas Phase Analyses

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 193-217, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Dielectric barrier discharge ionization (DBDI) sources, employing low‐temperature plasma, have emerged as sensitive and efficient ionization tools with various atmospheric pressure ionization processes. In this review, we summarize a historical overview of the development of DBDI, highlighting key principles of gas‐phase ion chemistry and the ...

A Flexible Approach for Fat‐Water Separation With Bipolar Readouts and Correction of Gradient‐Induced Phase and Amplitude Effects

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 1462-1477, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a fat‐water separation approach that corrects bipolar readout gradient‐induced effects without additional scans and is compatible with any fat‐water separation method. Theory and Methods The proposed approach combines joint fat‐water separation of the odd and even echoes of a bipolar multi‐echo gradient echo acquisition with

Influence of Basis Set Composition on Metabolite Quantification of 1H‐MRS at 3 T: Combining In Silico, In Vivo and In Vitro Evidence

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 3, March 2026.
We use synthetic (Aim 1), human brain (Aim 2) and phantom (Aim 3) data to assess how basis set choice affects Glu, tCr, tNAA and tCho quantification, focusing on the bias–variance trade‐off under varying SNR conditions. Including GABA, GSH, NAAG and glucose improved Glu estimates, reducing bias and variance below 10%.

Engineering Nanocellulose Scaffolds: Property Modification Strategies and Mechanotransduction‐Driven Tissue Outcomes

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 37, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Nanocellulose is being increasingly used in biomedical applications because of its biocompatibility, mechanical robustness, tunable surface chemistry, and adjustable rheology. This review evaluates recent strategies for engineering cellulose nanofibrils, nanocrystals, and bacterial nanocellulose into cell‐instructive scaffolds for skin, bone ...

Amphiphilic Block Copolymer‐Functionalized VO2 Nanocomposites for Smart Waterborne Polyurethane Coatings

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aqueous vanadium dioxide (VO2)‐based smart thermal insulation coatings represent a viable strategy to decrease building energy consumption and advance sustainable development goals. However, the inherent instability and limited compatibility with polymer matrices of VO2 hinder its widespread application.

Cognitive Networks for Knowledge Modeling: A Gentle Introduction for Data‐ and Cognitive Scientists

open access: yesWIREs Cognitive Science, Volume 17, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Cognitive network science helps organize associative knowledge—that is, the connections between concepts. These connections play a key role in cognitive processes such as language understanding and context interpretation, even though they are not obvious in language use.
