Dressing the nucleon in a dispersion approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present a model for dressing the nucleon propagator and vertices. In the model the use of a K-matrix approach (unitarity) and dispersion relations (analyticity) are combined. The principal application of the model lies in pion-nucleon scattering where

Recent Insights into Sample Pretreatment Methods for Mycotoxins in Different Food Matrices: A Critical Review on Novel Materials

open access: yesToxins, 2023
Mycotoxins pollution is a global concern, and can pose a serious threat to human health. People and livestock eating contaminated food will encounter acute and chronic poisoning symptoms, such as carcinogenicity, acute hepatitis, and a weakened immune ...

The pion-pion scattering amplitude. II: Improved analysis above $\bar{K}K$ threshold [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We improve, in the energy region between $\bar{K}K$ threshold and $\sim~1.4$ GeV, the energy-dependent phase shift analysis of $\pi\pi$ scattering presented in a previous paper. For the S0 wave we have included more data above $\bar{K}K$ threshold and we

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Lattice dynamics of anharmonic solids from first principles

open access: yes, 2011
An accurate and easily extendable method to deal with lattice dynamics of solids is offered. It is based on first-principles molecular dynamics simulations and provides a consistent way to extract the best possible harmonic - or higher order - potential ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Analytical and numerical evaluation of the Debye and Meissner masses in dense neutral three-flavor quark matter

open access: yes, 2005
We calculate the Debye and Meissner masses and investigate chromomagnetic instability associated with the gapless color superconducting phase changing the strange quark mass $M_s$ and the temperature $T$.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Back‐extraction applied to green matrix solid‐phase dispersion for fungicides determination in tomatoes

open access: yesSEPARATION SCIENCE PLUS, 2023
Abstract Matrix solid‐phase dispersion is an alternate technique to simultaneously extract and clean up pesticides from food matrices. In recent years, deep eutectic solvents have been applied to replace common organic solvents in various extraction techniques.
