Phonon softening and superconductivity in tellurium under pressure

open access: yes, 1996
The phonon dispersion and the electron-phonon interaction for the $\beta$-Po and the bcc high pressure phases of tellurium are computed with density-functional perturbation theory.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Matrix Solid Phase Dispersion

open access: yes, 2012
Matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) is a simple, fast, and versatile technique for preparation of solid, semi-solid, liquid, and viscous samples. Since its introduction two decades ago, MSPD has experienced rapid development and, nowadays, can be considered a widely accepted technique in many research areas.

Analysis of pesticide residues in rice using matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2004
This work reports a multi-residue extraction method based on matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) and capillary gas chromatography - electron capture detection for quantification of two widely used organophosphorus insecticides (malathion and parathion-methyl) and an organochlorine pesticide (b-endosulfan) in rice.

Homogenous dispersion and interfacial bonding of carbon nanotube reinforced with aluminum matrix composite: A review

open access: yesReviews on Advanced Materials Science, 2019
Recent developments in the field of carbon nanotube (CNT) have attracted attentions on a new development of aluminum matrix composite (AMC). Homogenous dispersion and interfacial bonding of CNT/metal matrix are the two main problems yet to have sound ...

Theoretical and numerical investigation of diffusive instabilities in multi-component alloys

open access: yes, 2016
Mechanical properties of engineering alloys are strongly correlated to their microstructural length scale. Diffusive insta- bilities of the Mullins-Sekerka type is one of the principal mechanisms through which the scale of the microstructural features ...

Spin-triplet supercurrent carried by quantum Hall edge states through a Josephson junction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We show that a spin-polarized Landau level in a two-dimensional electron gas can carry a spin-triplet supercurrent between two spin-singlet superconductors.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Chiral 2pi exchange at order four and peripheral NN scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We calculate the impact of the complete set of two-pion exchange contributions at chiral order four (also known as next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order, N3LO) on peripheral partial waves of nucleon-nucleon scattering. Our calculations are based upon the

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
