Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Helimagnon Bands as Universal Spin Excitations of Chiral Magnets

open access: yes, 2010
MnSi is a cubic compound with small magnetic anisotropy, which stabilizes a helimagnetic spin spiral that reduces to a ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic state in the long- and short-wavelength limit, respectively.

Understanding of matrix embedding: a theoretical spectroscopic study of CO interacting with Ar clusters, surfaces and matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Through benchmark studies, we explore the performance of PBE density functional theory, with and without Grimme's dispersion correction (DFT-D3), in predicting spectroscopic properties for molecules interacting with rare gas matrices.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Aplicação de métodos quimiométricos na caracterização de charutos utilizando extração por dispersão da matriz em fase sólida e análise por cromatografia gasosa acoplada à espectrometria de massas

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2011
In this work, the organic compounds of cigar samples from different brands were analyzed. The compound extraction was made using the matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) technique, followed by gas chromatography and identification by mass spectrometry ...

Lattice Boltzmann model approximated with finite difference expressions

open access: yes, 2017
We show that the asymptotic properties of the link-wise artificial compressibility method are not compatible with a correct approximation of fluid properties.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

DES modified silica gel as dispersing material for miniaturized matrix solid phase dispersion applied to triazoles determination

open access: yesAdvances in Sample Preparation
Matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) represents one of the most useful methods for pesticides determination in vegetables. This extraction method involves the use of a solid, dispersing material, which is homogenized together with the sample in a mortar ...
