Matroid theory and Chern–Simons [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2000
It is shown that matroid theory may provide a natural mathematical framework for a duality symmetries not only for quantum Yang–Mills physics, but also for M-theory. Our discussion is focused in an action consisting purely of the Chern–Simons term, but in principle the main ideas can be applied beyond such an action. In our treatment the theorem due to

Information hiding using matroid theory

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 2021
Inspired by problems in Private Information Retrieval, we consider the setting where two users need to establish a communication protocol to transmit a secret without revealing it to external observers. This is a question of how large a linear code can be, when it is required to agree with a prescribed code on a collection of coordinate sets.

Searching for a Connection Between Matroid Theory and String Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We make a number of observations about matter-ghost string phase, which may eventually lead to a formal connection between matroid theory and string theory.

Isotropical Linear Spaces and Valuated Delta-Matroids [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2011
The spinor variety is cut out by the quadratic Wick relations among the principal Pfaffians of an $n \times n$ skew-symmetric matrix. Its points correspond to $n$-dimensional isotropic subspaces of a $2n$-dimensional vector space.

The moduli space of matroids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the first part of the paper, we clarify the connections between several algebraic objects appearing in matroid theory: both partial fields and hyperfields are fuzzy rings, fuzzy rings are tracts, and these relations are compatible with the respective ...

Phase Transition as an Emergent Phenomenon Analysed by Violation of Structural Invariant (M, BM)

open access: yesMendel, 2020
When modeling complex systems, we usually encounter the following difficulties: partiality, large amounts of data and uncertainty of conclusions. The most common approach used for modeling is the physical approach, sometimes reinforced by statistical ...

Abstract 3-Rigidity and Bivariate $C_2^1$-Splines I: Whiteley's Maximality Conjecture

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis, 2022
3-Rigidity and Bivariate $C_2^1$-Splines I: Whiteley's Maximality Conjecture, Discrete Analysis 2022:2, 50 pp. Suppose one realizes a graph $G$ by taking its vertex set to be a set of points $x_1,\dots,x_n$ in $\mathbb R^d$ and the edge joining $x_i$ to

Two-Layer Network Caching for Different Service Requirements

open access: yesFuture Internet, 2021
Network caching is a technique used to speed-up user access to frequently requested contents in complex data networks. This paper presents a two-layer overlay network caching system for content distribution.

Renormalization group-like proof of the universality of the Tutte polynomial for matroids [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2013
In this paper we give a new proof of the universality of the Tutte polynomial for matroids. This proof uses appropriate characters of Hopf algebra of matroids, algebra introduced by Schmitt (1994). We show that these Hopf algebra characters are solutions

Covering-Based Rough Sets on Eulerian Matroids

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
Rough set theory is an efficient and essential tool for dealing with vagueness and granularity in information systems. Covering-based rough set theory is proposed as a significant generalization of classical rough sets.
