2008This paper is about the shortcomings observed in understanding Rumi’s thoughts and messages, and why this may be the case. Causing differences of level in the interpretations about Rumi, some of these reasons arise out of the reader, which –in itself– constitutes the external aspect of the understanding problem.

In our research, the interpretation in Sufism, the life of Mawlānā (d.672/1273), the introduction of his work Mesnawī, the hadiths in Mawlānā's Mesnawī and the quotations of these hadiths were examined. In this study, it was aimed to analyze the hadiths in Mawlānā Jalāl al-Dīn al-Rūmī's Masnavi in the context of al-Ishārī interpretation.
